Welcome to Year 5/6!

Hello! I’m Mrs. McVey, the Class teacher. 

• Mornings are all about English and Maths.

• Afternoons are filled with our wider curriculum, including Computing, PE, Art, DT, History, Geography, Music, RE, and PSHE.

Our school values—Love, Growth, and Strength—are at the heart of everything we do.

In Maths, we follow the White Rose scheme, and this term we’re exploring place value, addition and subtraction, and space. We’re also excited to take part in the Mastering Number programme, which helps us build confidence and speed with multiplication.

Every child has a reading book, and we encourage them to read at least three times a week.

We’ve got lots of exciting things ahead this year, including our residential trip to Robin Wood in the summer!

A Typical Day in our Class

• 8.50 – Register & morning task

• 9.00 – Assembly

• 9.15 – Handwriting / Spelling

• 9.30 – Maths

• 10.45 – Break

• 11.00 – English

• 12.00 – Lunchtime

• 1.00 – Reading

• 1.30 – Foundation curriculum subjects

• 3.00 – Mastering Number (fluency) and Daily Read Aloud

• 3.20pm – Home time
