Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At Crow Orchard Primary School, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment where every member of our community is valued and supported to flourish. Guided by our core values of Love, Growth and Strength, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their very best, regardless of their background, identity or individual needs.

We are fully committed to meeting our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of school life. We recognise and celebrate the richness that difference brings to our school community and strive to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity, fairness and respect.

In line with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), we work to:

Within our primary school context, we ensure that our curriculum, policies, values and daily interactions help children develop an age-appropriate understanding of diversity, respect and inclusion, preparing them to become compassionate and responsible citizens.

We are committed to ensuring that every pupil has equal access to a high-quality education. We carefully identify and remove barriers to learning, making reasonable adjustments where required and providing appropriate support so that all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), disadvantaged pupils and those with additional needs, can succeed and thrive.

Equality is embedded throughout our curriculum and wider school life. Through carefully planned learning opportunities, assemblies, enrichment experiences and positive role models, pupils learn to appreciate different cultures, beliefs, families and communities while developing empathy, respect and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Our recruitment, employment and professional development practices are based on fairness and equality of opportunity. We are committed to ensuring that no employee, volunteer, governor or applicant is disadvantaged because of a protected characteristic.

The Governing Body and school leaders regularly review our policies, practices and equality objectives to ensure we continue to meet our statutory duties and respond effectively to the needs of our school community. We also publish and review our Equality Objectives and Accessibility Plan in accordance with statutory requirements.
