Year 2 - McIntosh Class 2025 - 2026
Mrs O'Byrne
Mrs Spence
Hello and welcome to McIntosh Class; we are Year 2!
We have two teachers in our classroom - Mrs O'Byrne teaches Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, and Mrs Spence teaches Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. We also have Ms Jones, a Learning Facilitator, working in our class each day.
In Year 2, we have lots of fun being curious learners and endevour to follow our school values: Love, Growth and Strength.
A typical day in our classroom looks like this:
- Assembly
- Phonics (Essential Letters and Sounds)
- English
- Play time
- Maths
- Lunch time
- Foundation Subject (such as Art and Design, History, Music, Science etc)
- Play time
- Foundation Subject
- Handwriting and Class Novel
- Home time at 3:25pm
Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday, when we come to school wearing our School PE Kit. On Tuesday, we get taught PE by Kelly who is a coach from SHARES.
Every Friday we have a Celebration Assembly where parents and carers are invited to come and watch us get our certificate. Each Wednesday, our teachers send home a secret invitation to one of our growns.... but ssshhh, it's a surprise! We don't find out who is getting the certificate until we're in our special Friday celebration assembly!
In our classroom, we have 'Discovery Island' where we have the opportunity to observe, question and investigate a range of unusual items. Some items are even older than our Grandparents!
When we have been busy using our brains, we sometimes have a quick movement break (which always involves singing and plenty of dance moves!).
We love to read in our class - reading helps you to grow and takes you on amazing adventures. What are your favourite books to read?
How can you help us at home?
Our grown-ups can help support our learning at home by helping us to practise our weekly spellings, listen to us read our ELS book at least three times a week and help us to learn our times tables ( we begin with learning our x2).
Keep an eye on our gallery to see what we've been getting up to on our learning journey! Ask us about our day at school.
