Year 1 & 2 2022 - 2023
Mrs Smith
Welcome to McIntosh Class. This class is a mixture of Year 1 and Year 2 children. I am Mrs Smith and I am the class teacher. I work Monday-Thursday and Mrs Heath teaches on a Friday. The Learning Facilitators that work in McIntosh Class are Mrs Niblock, Ms Jones, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Storey. Our class values are Proud and Kindness. We endeavour to follow these values in McIntosh Class.
A typical day in McIntosh class looks like this:
- Phonics (Essential Letters and Sounds)
- Maths
- Play time
- English
- Lunch time
- Foundation Subject
- Play time
- Foundation Subject
- Home time at 3:10pm
For Phonics we follow Essential Letters and Sounds (ELS) and Mrs Smith and Mrs Fitzsimons deliver these sessions. Phonics is taught daily from EYFS through to Year 2. Children bring home an ELS reading book every Friday to read as many times as possible throughout the week. Children can also log onto Oxford Owl to access more decodable reading books.
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we have a Whole School Assembly.
Wednesday we have a Singing Assembly.
Friday we have a Celebration Assembly where parents are invited.
Wednesdays we have P.E with our SHARES Coach.
Thursdays we also have P.E.
It’s a good idea to leave P.E kits in school. We send them home each half term.
Year 1 children will complete a Phonics Screening Check in June to assess their phonic ability.
Year 2 children will complete end of Key Stage One SATs. These are less formal than KS2 SATS and are completed in small groups. More information about the Phonics Check and KS1 SATS will be given to parents in the Spring Term.
